Wood Painting

All my pieces for the first cubby are cut, sanded, primered, sanded, wood puttied, primered up....
the closest piece of wood has 2 coats of kils, his buddy, only one. How do I get such a clean finish you ask? by following my Sanding 101, moving thru the levels of sandpaper grit from coarse to super fine between coats, and my secret ingredient? My vacuum!!! Put your couch attachment on the end, the one with the little bristles, and use that hose to go over every square inch of your wood. One little minute piece of dust, and you get an F. know why? Because that little piece of dust will stick out like a sore thumb, absorb a glob of paint, and everytime you use your painted piece, it will be there, sticking it's tongue out at you saying, "hey lazy ass....should've vacuumed before primering!"

For the chicks out there, it's like paying to get your nails done, then deliberately sticking your hand full of wet nails into a cereal box. You don't want to go around with crunchy nails, and you certainly don't want to put in all the time and effort of building your own piece, and paint it half ass. REMEMBER, we want a Pottery Barn worthy piece, not a PicNSave special!

In between primer drying, I made all the rest of my cuts for my other cubbies. yeah me!  At first, when you use a saw, in my case, a circular saw, it's horrifying. But the more cuts you make, the less intimidating it is. Don't let yourself get too  comfy though. I will never be comfy with a saw in my hand, and always wear my dork safety glasses and earplugs.
Also, because I'm a cheap bastard, I filled my Jig holes with wood filler, we'll see how that turns out, to soon to tell. Just forgot to pick up the little pluggie pieces, and if this works, i'll never have too!
Besides the visible holes, which are in place to go into the 2X4 when I put my custom windowseat in, Tre Sheik if I do say so myself, there are 5 holes on each of the sides that I've filled in once.

I'm sure my neighbors, and my husband, think I'm crazy outside painting at 11:30 at night, maybe I am, or at the very least going through a mid life crisis, well, let those without voices in their heads throw the first stone!
I'm out!!!
