Sanding 101

Stuck in nuetral on the grill helper for JB, I'm on Amazon time and as soon as it gets shipped, I can finish.....
so, I've moved on to my windowseat for the livingroom. It will be a series of three boxes, open, to put baskets full of yarn in. I also want to make 2 bookcases to flank it, but the very cool thing about it is....i plan on making it look like a built in!! yeah, sexy!!!!
Working the jig like a mofo pro!!!
I've got the first  box cut, jigged, primered. Fingers crossed, tommorrow I'll be able to put it together, finish the paint, and throw my very first basket in!!!!
After multiple sandings, wood fill, 1 coat of  Kilz, you can still see the wood imperfections, the knots, lines, and pencil marks. Thats okay, by the time I'm done painting this board, I'm looking to have a high gloss surface. Similar to the white cubbies you see on Pottery Barn,

This is what I'm hoping to make into a windowseat, click the above link to see the Stratton Bed.

To achieve this look will take some elbow grease. Another Sanding, by hand since I'm working with 3/4 inch plywood, I don't want to sand too much, as this will remove the different layers and make my project look more like a PicNSave piece than a PB Specialty!!!
Just remember when you're sanding that Plywood is a ton of different woods smashed together and tread lightly...you can always take off more, but never add it back on.
After 2 additional sandings, moving from coarse to fine sandpaper, and 1 more coat, 2 total, of Kilz, this wood is ready to be made into something FABULOUS!!!!
Anyone can do this, I AM not a pro, nor am I a contractor, I'm a nurse by trade, who never wants to pay for something I can do myself.

Heres a great article about everything you ever wanted to know about sandpaper...but we're too afraid to ask, lol. Read it, and get busy. Start doing. There has to be something you've always wanted to make, and if there is, and you need plans, just ask...I can help
